Start with coffee/breakfast at the Peacock Café and spend the morning touring the grounds and/or taking tours. In addition to its history, Magnolia is well known for having the most beautiful gardens of any plantation in South Carolina.

Marianna and Panama City Road Trip via bus or van
Date: Friday, June 8, 2018 to Saturday, June 9, 2018
We will take a driving tour through Greenwood and through the old Baker land, and we will visit St. Luke’s Episcopal church and cemetery in Marianna. We will also get together for dinner at a family members’ house and see the original handwritten will of Simmons Jones Baker, the original watch and seal brought over from England in apx 1670, and the Robinson family bible, handed down through the 3rd wife of James Baker, son of James L.G. Baker. Saturday we will drive to Panama City to visit Oakland Cemetery, Baker Court, and the Baker-Whitehurst house. Dinner will be in Fort Walton Beach Saturday evening.

Summary: We will meet at 9:00 am at a coffeehouse in Pensacola, FL and drive over to the University of West Florida, Archives. There we will view the original Dr. Simmons Jones Baker “Recollections” document, as well as other documents in the Watson Collection, and the Baker-Watson Collections. We will also visit Bayview Memorial Cemetery in Pensacola, and Jesse Rogers Cemetery in Mary Ester, FL on the way back. Dinner Monday night will be in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
